17 Jaguar Mark 2 1959-1967 Classic Car Restoration Ideas, Jaguar MK2 Race, Classic Sports Car is medium saloon car with the xk engine the best wanted sale. Jaguar MX2 Muscle Car Retro
In the entire life story of Jaguar, there is nothing like the E-type; this 2 door Jaguar was, and probably still is, the best car from the British auto maker. Don’t get this wrong, however. Although the E-type is the pinnacle of all Jaguar classic cars in terms of design and engineering – particularly in its time period – the company also made a good number of appreciable automobiles before or around the years in which the E-type was manufactured. One of the most notable was Jaguar Mark 2 built from late 1959 to 1967.
Now considered a retro car, it was actually quite nimble and capable saloon. It was powered by XK straight-six engine and available in three different configurations: 120bhp, 210bhp, and 220bhp. Such power is nowhere near performance cars of today, but you have to look at it from a time-relevant perspective.
Believe it or not, this classic sports car was popular among law enforcements and criminals thanks to its powerful engine. The top of the range model with 220bhp was able to go from 0 – 60 miles an hour in just about 8.5 seconds; even by today’s standard for 4-doors saloon, it is quite fast. Just like most European automobiles, Jaguar Mark 2 was never a muscle car. In other words, it could go around the corner quickly without falling over to the side.
The overall body lines, which took the design cue from Mark I, eventually became the inspiration of S-type introduced in 1998 during Birmingham Motor Show. Improvements from Mark I included a widened rear track and rearranged suspension geometry. Four-wheel disc brakes were standard, and there were some optional features such as power steering and automatic transmissions for extra cost.
The present Jaguar sport cars lineup are filled with modern aerodynamic powerful models, but it does not change the fact that the Mark 2 always will be one of the best classic cars from the company.
